Lucifer had been lucky, he had stumbled on a deer carcass that looked relatively untouched. Normally he tried to avoid carcass' but he had bee traveling for a while and it had been a few days since his last meal. It was still cold enough that the meat shouldn't have started rotting, at least not as fast as it would have during the warm and hot seasons. He slowly sniffed around the dead deer. scenting and looking for any sign that disease is what took this creatures life, rather than the cold or old age. He could still feel a little warmth coming off the deer, letting him know that it had not been dead for too long which meant the meat should still be fresh. His stomach gave a loud growl, letting him know that he had inspected the feast long enough, it was time to dine. So without wasting much tome he tore into the deers stomach getting past the fur and skin to the organs inside. As hungry as he was though he was still cautious, testing the meat ion his tongue and smelling everything once more, just to be sure it wasn't rotten or infected. The last thing he needed was to become ill because he was too impatient.
He had eaten almost as much as he could tolerate and was debating what to do with the rest of the carcass. He could just leave it here and keep it for himself, hope that no other wolves or scavengers would come along between now and when he wanted his next meal, he could waste energy trying to drag what was left to a secluded spot and again hope that it remained undetected, or he could send up a call. See if there were other wolves in the area, ones that have not been lucky enough to catch a meal for themselves. There was still plenty of meat left on this deer, and he doubted, with the amount that he just consumed, that he would be needing to eat something like again before the meat froze solid or began to rot. He supposed it would be rude to not see if there were others in the area that were hungry like him. After all he is not the one who brought the deer down, so it wasn't like it was his kill to protect. And it wasn't like her had a pack or mate to feed yet.
So with his decision being made Luci threw back his head and let a howl rip from his chest. Letting all that could hear know that there was an easy meal to be had should they need it. He would hang around and protect the carcass from any other scavenger and see who showed up.
