i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Canary - 01-30-2023 Life sucked. Why make it harder than it ever needed to be? Turning around and heading home would’ve been the better deal. Life was beating her ass. Apparently, her luck was all spent after her miraculous leap. The miracle didn’t seem so sparkly and cool now. Her night was spent awakening to the gnawing pain in her front paw; laying in the burn and holding in the cries. Finally, she was all alone. This is what she apparently wanted. Morning peaked behind a dull light hidden behind dark clouds that gifted her a morning shower. A cold one. Canary’s eyes pinched and braced as she stumbled from the mountain’s forest. Her paw clutched to her chest like an admission of shock or disgrace. Canary kept it moving, hobbling along. Her maw hung open in a hard pant. She paused every now and then to drink from small, dirty puddles. The mud slowed her down in a slow, suctioning pop. She believed she’d get there eventually, limping through the mud, to the larger pool of frozen water. The girl knew she was out in the open with her stupid ankle in the stupid rain and where her stupid idea brought her. But, fresh water? That’s where she’d start. RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Bayley - 01-30-2023 Bumbling steps carried an equally bumbling boy towards the scent of water. Faint scratches littered his nose as he moved forward, muzzle outstretched to feel his way across the landscape. His pelt hung on his body like an oversized coat. It caused the fur to part into clump sand to give him a more overall disheveled look than was typical of a young man his age. He was underweight, though not quite on the brink of starvation, with the only saving grace being that he'd been capable of scavenging some food. Add in that he was only a gangly yearling and he hadn't quite grown into the plush winter coat that had blossomed over his whole body in the past few months. The muddy puddles weren't of interest to him because he could distantly scent what he wanted - a larger source of water that would quench his thirst. His ears even perked up as he heard some movement ahead of him as well. Faintly, perhaps just within the edges of his hearing, was the odd walk of what might be an injured wolf. He chuffed, lifting his head as his brows knit together in concern. He didn't know the nature of the wolf but if they were injured then Bayley had to offer some kind of assistance at least. He was familiar with a couple of herbs, though truthfully it would do little good in the dead of winter. "Who's there?" he paused to boof ahead of him, his head lifting a little more as he scented the air now for their scent rather than for a sense of water. His ears perked up, and his tail even gave the faintest of wags. It'd been weeks since he'd last had company. Maybe he was lucky now. RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Canary - 01-31-2023 When there was one dingy, ill-groomed youngster, there would eventually be two. One more raggedy than the other to gather by the watering hole. Canary puffed up, crusty hackles separating and rising before settling quietly back to its designated dirt nook. Her chin was lingering over a hoof-shaped imprint holding rain water. Canary grabbed two licks, raised her head in anticipation, and tilted her ears in greeting, while the man chased a scent in the air. Why was he being weird? ”I’m here!” She answered him girlishly and naively, as if he wasn’t a stranger, but a friend she coincidentally bumped into, and embellished in a feeling she was calling him over rather than greeting him. The man’s gaze seemed to float. Odd. But it was finally someone who wasn’t family! ”You snuck up on me!” An accusation followed in a similarly teenage exclamation. RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Bayley - 01-31-2023 The silence didn't last long and for that he was grateful. Bayley's ears perked forward now in interest as his face relaxed and he padded forward more. He used the sound of her voice to gauge some distance, and was aware of the puddles he was stepping in as he grew closer. Soon, he'd quench his thirst. First, he had a friendly voice to greet and he found himself grinning. "Well, good morning," he answered happily. "I didn't mean to, I move quiet by habit. I'm Bayley!" He appeared to look near her but not directly at her, the reflectiveness of his pupils shining bright disks back from highly dilated eyes. It was more obvious he was blind up close, as there wasn't something his eyes focused on though they moved as if he might recall having seen things once upon a time. "Are you doing alright?" he asked curiously. Recalling that the sound of her gait had been off but not wanting to ask her directly if something was indeed wrong. RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Canary - 02-03-2023 He was off, not in a way that turned Canary away or shy her lively nature. The silence between the rain’s splattering fall needed to be filled. She continued to greet amicably. ”Bayley!” She announced,”Nice to meet you. Headed to the fresh water, right? That's were I'm going. This rain is a bite in the ass.” Her injured paw stuck to her chest, next to her quickening heart. ”Ugh, it’s that obvious isn’t it…” The attention to it made her frown as she limped closer to Bayley. Her breath was caught in a grunt when the mud suctioned her down. Canary wobbled. ”Ooh.” Hind legs settled into a wide-set position. Once stable, she tossed a sheepish grin, eyelids curled, and a laugh escaped her. ”Oh! Did I say my name? I'm Canary.” He was looking at her, but not really looking at her. Bayley’s blindness didn’t click in her brain. He seemed soft for not even briefly settling into eye contact; one of her brothers, or honestly any of them, could beat him up. How well can Canary approach Bayley?

RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Bayley - 02-05-2023 Her voice was sweet, at least. Friendly and indeed as amicable as he had first thought. His ears lowered shyly as she swore. He wasn't the type to utter such crass words, though he didn't fault anyone else for it. He was a roll with the moment sort of guy. Nor did he quite know what she meant when she said it was obvious. Blissfully unaware of her leg tucked so close to her chest. He was aware, though, of the sound of her gait. Most certainly moving on three legs. He chuffed a little as if he understood, even gave the tiniest of nodds. He was not going to press her if she didn't make it more obvious. And it would be silly to ask to look at it if he could not discern what was wrong anyway. Hopefully it wouldn't be rude of him. "Canary is a beautiful name," he bolstered. His ears lifted again and he tilted his head slightly, offering his own sheepish sort of grin her way. Her laugh seemed genuine. "If I tell you I can find the water by scent alone, would you trust me to walk the direction I indicate?" he asked. She might tell him no, he wouldn't be overly surprised. RE: i like to ate ate ate, apples and bananas, i like to oat oat oat, opples and bononos - Canary - 02-22-2023 Behind her widening grin at his compliment, her tail swayed behind her. Canary stretched her wiggling nose closer to him and flattened her ears. Submissive, sweet. But, the confusion notched her ears up and to the side. What? She side-eyed the direction of the freshwater. Was he going to find the water with his eyes closed? Canary gave him a look that she would properly scuff in his face, but refraining from doing so. Instead, she shrugged,”Lead the way Bayley.” |
